Dr. Breck is one smart cat.
When he reached out to me that he wanted to do a podcast on my site, I didn’t know much about him, other than that he was pals with James Lafond.
And if you’re pals with James Lafond, then you’re probably a good dude!
After our initial podcast, I started watching his stuff…and I gotta say, I was shocked.
This guy knows what he’s talking about.
And I don’t say that lightly.
THE LONE RANGER’S TONTO
“Breck, you’re a Psychic Indian Scout,” I told him.
And it’s true.
You know how it is in the Westerns…the Indian Scouts know the lay of the land, and they use it to help the Cowboys ride tall in the saddle!
Lone Ranger had Tonto, Daniel Boone had Mingo, and John Carter had Tars Tarkus.
And that’s exactly how Dr. Breck is…he looks beneath the surface of what’s going on in society, to find the hidden dynamics that are running people’s lives subconsciously.
Heck, when it comes to the World of Form, he is on the Quest for sure…
And he’s further up ahead the trail than most!
A BRECK THROUGH A PLATE GLASS WINDOW
In a provocatively titled piece, “Y steroids and trt r a psyop to turn you ghey”, Dr. Breck’s got some tough words for users…and his words go far beyond the world of Steroids and TRT.
He says:
“If you’re body is signalling to your brain that you’re an effete f*****, and you don’t need much testosterone, the addition of synthetic testosterone is not going to make you any less of a f*****.
“It’s just going to make you a more productive, industrious, and competitive f*****.
“Notice I didn’t say aggressive.
“I said productive, industrious, competitive.
“I didn’t say aggressive.”[1]
When I heard this, it hit me like a brick through a plate glass window…
Or maybe, a Breck?
SAVE US FROM SLOUCHING?
I was struck so forcefully by those words because they solved a mystery that has haunted me particularly deeply all year…
And quite frankly, has been haunting me for over a decade!
The truth is, Mainstream Conservatism has been pushing the idea that being a Man is all about Competence.
This has been an easy sell, because the horrors of Postmodernism have created a whole generation of slackers who have fulfilled the Prophecy of Slouching Toward Gomorrah.
Jordan Peterson is the most clear and explicit example of this trend in his book, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos.
I’ll let him summarize it in his own words:
“It is far better to render Beings in your care competent than than to protect them.”[2]
So there it is, if you’re competent, you won’t just survive in the big bad world, you’ll thrive!
You’ll blow past the Postmodern competition Slouching Toward Gomorrah, to a life of success and ease.
“What do you say to those that are against Homeschooling?” a Homeschooled girl famously asked Charlie Kirk.
“Well they can apply for a job from you in ten years from now!” Charlie declared triumphantly.[3]
For there is no group where Competence is pushed harder than in Conservative Christian Homeschool circles.
I should know…
SOUL & STIGMA
I should know because I was Homeschooled in a Conservative Christian environment for 18 years!
And there, Competence was pushed hard, very hard…long before anybody had ever even heard of Jordan Peterson!
I always tried to balance this Competence with Verbal Aggression, however.
That’s because during my High School years, I was in a National Speech and Debate league for Homeschoolers called the NCFCA…National Christian Forensics and Communications Associations.
My goal wasn’t to kill the Body, but kill the Soul…Jihad of the Tongue as our Sand People pals like to say, also known as Agon of Utterance by Marcus Auraelius, the Last Good Emperor.
And in the Spirit of the Last Good Emperor, I had a Code for killing Souls: I would only do it within the ritualized setting of the Debate room, and only outside of it if a serious wrong needed to be righted.
Confrontational…you know how it is!
As Homeschooling didn’t have much of a Physical Culture, Verbal Aggression got the job done. Fisticuffs weren’t even conceivable in that world.
But after I graduated, there was always the stigma that being Homeschooled meant that you were an uneducated, social loser who wasn’t gonna fit in…
And if fitting in is your goal, Aggression isn’t gonna help you unless you want to bring the Man down on you…
So upon graduation, I doubled down on Competence even harder…and pushed the Aggression in all its Forms to the back-burner.
This would create a large number of problems later on down the road…
SELECTIVE INTERPRETATION
The truth is, if you are Competent without being Aggressive, you’re not a Man.
You’re a Slave.
Just ask the Christians in the Middle East…the ones that weren’t killed by the Jihad were kept around to be used by the Islamists for all the all-important technical work that the Oriental Despots didn’t like to do…
They were valued because they were honest and they were hard workers…commanded so by the Bible itself!
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do,” wrote Paul in 1st Corinthians 10:31, NIV, “Do it all for the glory of God.”
You know…Competent!
But you see, the Islamists didn’t like to highlight that other verse in the Bible to their Christian Slaves, the one that Paul wrote in Hebrews 11:32-24, GNT…
“Should I go on? There isn’t enough time for me to speak of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets.
“Through faith they fought whole countries and won. They did what was right and received what God had promised.
“They shut the mouths of lions, put out fierce fires, escaped being killed by the sword.
“They were weak, but became strong; they were mighty in battle and defeated the armies of foreigners…”
You know…Aggression!
LAURELS RESTING & RUSTING
Over the past nine years of being in the working world, I’ve had a lot of jobs.
I’ve worked in:
- Construction…
- Retail…
- Sold gym memberships…
- Driven a fork lift…
- Driven box trucks…
- Driven flat bed dump trucks…
- Sold windows, roofing, and siding…
- Sold solar panels…
- Sold gutter guards…
- Been a Substitute Teacher of all grades and even Special Education…
- Been a Personal Trainer…
- And even worked for two different Counter-Terrorism Think Tanks!
And when it came to the job site, whether White Collar or Blue, I found that Competence, Empathy, and Loyalty were a good mix that made for a good worker.
And so, I emphasized these qualities in my life and my own Code.
I knew I had the Aggression in me from back in the day, so I didn’t need to bring it out…
Or so I thought.
And as time went I learned the truth of that old phrase:
“Resting on your laurels is rusting on your laurels.”
THE DEVIL’S DUE
By 2025, the Devil had come to collect his due.
Because while the cost of Aggression is to bring the Man down on you, the price for ditching Aggression is a life lived in chains.
Shadows of the cost had loomed when I had had trouble getting things to connect in the Combat Sports Arena years before…
And after my Mom died, I pushed the Aggression back even further to keep the peace, leading the shadows to loom larger and larger…
I had begun to address these issues in articles like:
But the moment of truth happened when two different women who had never met each other told me the same thing.
IT REALLY IS ME
The first one I was attracted to.
The second one was even more important than that.
The first one told me:
“You have all the stuff, you’re perfect, but it’s like, something is missing…”
This was a good woman, and I sensed she was right.
It really wasn’t her, it was me!
But what was it?
HOW BITTER THE CUP
It became a wake-up call when the second one told me:
“You’re more like a Kid to me than a Prince.”
This special individual didn’t want to tell me this. I made her. It says a lot about her Character that she didn’t want to hurt me.
I tried to live by my Ideals by demanding the Truth, no matter how bitter the cup.
I didn’t know what to do, but just like before, I knew she was right.
I just didn’t know why.
That’s when Tonto rode in to rescue a dying John Reid and give him a Mask…
PEASENTS, WITCHES, & CRUSADES
When I heard Dr. Breck’s words:
“Notice I didn’t say aggressive.
“I said productive, industrious, competitive.
“I didn’t say aggressive.”[4]
I didn’t need to take Steroids or TRT or any of it to know what he meant.
He had solved my Mystery.
He put into words something that I had been grasping for blindly in the dark for every waking moment of this seemingly God-forsaken year…feeling around for its contour and shape, but trapped in a blackness I could not escape.
What Dr. Breck’s words revealed to me was this:
Princes slay peasants who get out of line, hunt Witches in the woods who cast evil spells, and go on Crusades to liberate their foreign friends.
Kids are just Competent.
Notice a Kid is not Aggressive!
THE LONE RANGER RIDES AGAIN
I’m not a quitter.
Knock me down, I’ll get back up and keep going, no matter how I gotta do it.
What more can I say?
I’ll leave you with some words that were famous utterly a few generations ago…
